Why is crocodile better than other "novel" proteins like kangaroo or venison?

Kangaroo and venison have become increasingly common in commercial pet food, meaning many dogs have already been exposed — and can still react. Crocodile remains genuinely rare. The vast majority of dogs have never encountered it as a protein source, which makes it far more effective as a hypoallergenic option.

What's actually in your treats?

Crocodile. That's it. One ingredient on the label, every time. No binders, no fillers, no "natural flavours", no preservatives, no colours. If it isn't crocodile, it isn't in the bag.

Are Snappy Snacks treats safe for puppies?

Yes — the Jerky Strips and Tail Bites are soft enough for puppies and small dogs. We'd recommend avoiding the Leg Bones until your pup has their adult teeth (around 6–7 months). When in doubt, check with your vet.

Can I feed Snappy Snacks to a dog with a confirmed food allergy?

Crocodile is one of the cleanest novel proteins available, and many of our customers buy specifically on a vet's recommendation after an elimination diet. That said, every dog is individual — if your dog has a serious food allergy, please run any new treat past your vet first.

How is crocodile nutritionally different from chicken or beef?

Crocodile is naturally high in protein and low in fat compared to most red meats. It's rich in essential amino acids and minerals, and because we slow-dry rather than high-heat process, more of those nutrients stay intact in the final treat.

Are these treats or chews?

Both. Jerky Strips and Tail Bites are softer training-style treats; Crocodile Feet and Leg Bones are longer-lasting chews. The Sample Party Pack covers the whole range.

Sourcing & ethics

Where does the crocodile come from?

Every crocodile is farmed in Australia under local welfare and traceability standards. We process every batch locally too, so we know exactly which farm each treat came from.

Is this sustainable?

Australian saltwater crocodile farming is regulated and contributes to wild population conservation through controlled stock management. We use the whole animal — tails, feet, legs, jerky cuts — rather than just a single high-value cut, which keeps waste down.

Are the treats made in Australia?

Yes. 100% Australian-farmed and 100% Australian-processed. Nothing is shipped overseas for cooking or packaging.

Feeding & storage

How many treats can I give my dog?

Start with one treat per day to let your dog's digestive system adjust. After a week, increase based on size:

• Small dogs (under 10kg): 1–2 treats per day
• Medium dogs (10–25kg): 2–3 treats per day
• Large dogs (25kg+): 3–4 treats per day

Always supervise your dog with chews and ensure fresh water is available.

How should I store the treats?

Keep them in the sealed bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. No refrigeration needed. Once opened, they stay fresh for up to 4 weeks — though in our experience, they rarely last that long.

Best before?

Best consumed within 6 months of purchase. Each pack has a printed best-before date.

How long should a Crocodile Leg Bone or Foot last?

It depends on your dog's size and chewing style. As a rough guide: a determined medium-sized chewer will get 30–60 minutes from a Crocodile Foot, longer from a Leg Bone.

How fast is shipping?

Orders placed by 2pm AEST are dispatched the same business day. Standard delivery within Australia is typically 2–5 business days. Free shipping on all orders over $75.

How can I track my order?

You'll get a tracking link by email as soon as your parcel ships. If you can't find it, check your spam folder — or contact us with your order number.

What if my dog doesn't like them?

That almost never happens — but we stand behind everything we sell. If your dog isn't into it within 30 days of delivery, reach out and we'll refund you in full. No return required, no awkward questions.

How do I claim the 30-day refund?

Email us with your order number and a one-line note. We don't need photos, the unused product back, or anything else. Refunds are processed within 2 business days.
